After many years of travelling around we have both grasped this opportunity to get involved in various committees that are of interest to us in Cornwall.
Cornwall Heritage Trust protects some of the most iconic sites in Cornwall, such as Treffry Viaduct, Castle an Dinas and Sancreed Beacon. We regularly provide grants to other heritage organisations and our education programme helps to promote a greater appreciation of Cornwall’s unique heritage.
Dickie is Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Cornwall’s Regimental Museum – Recognised as probably the finest Military Museum in the South West of England. It is housed in “The Keep” at Bodmin, a magnificent Grade II listed Victorian building constructed in 1857.
The collection and displays cover 300 years of history, telling the story of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, volunteer militia and the The Light Infantry.
Dickie is a trustee for the museum and involved in raising awareness of this amazing facility and resource in the county.
Cornwall Christmas Fair – Organised by a team of volunteers, over the last 28 years the Cornwall Christmas Fair has raised in excess of £730,000. Kindly hosted by the Eden Project and generously sponsored and supported by a wide range of local and national business all funds raised go to the Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) who have been right at the forefront in supporting vulnerable Cornish communities since COVID hit.
Becs is on the committee and tasked with keeping the website updated and relevant and on the marketing team.
ABF, the Soldier’s Charity – The National Charity of the British Army. We give a lifetime of support to soldiers and veterans from the British Army, and their immediate families, when they are in need. We make grants to individuals through their Regiments and Corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world.
Becs is on the committee and involved in raising awareness and funding for this national charity throughout the South West.
Cornwall Garden Society Spring Flower Show is an annual event and the largest horticultural show outside London, a veritable ‘Chelsea of the South West’. The event is hosted at The Royal Cornwall Showground near Wadebridge during the first weekend of April and is packed with nurseries, horticulture, artisan, food & drink traders assured of making the weekend truly memorable.
Dickie is Show Director and ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the weekend from the detailed preparation, precise delivery and comprehensive tidy up.
